it sucks that we completely ruined slavery. naturally, by ‘we’ i mean white people. current, living white people. so desperate for slaves. walking around all day, dreaming and drooling about them, twisting an imaginary mustache. it’s understandable. you’re white. i sympathize. sadly, i am also white and wistful for slaves. the way you like to sit back and watch your children rake leaves in the yard, now imagine they are full-grown and can really rake. slaves were around forever, and we ruined the greatest institution ever. get taken in battle – enjoy being a slave. commit a crime – you better know you’re a slave. but we went over and purchased ours like cheating jerks. had other nations (africans or otherwise) been sailing over here to overtake us, and we had defeated them, we would still have slaves. we have prisons filled with potential slaves (and yes, there are white people in prison despite what you’ve heard). we occasionally let them pick up litter on the side of the road. we should have the cleanest country on the planet. that’s why people are so fond of the idea of robots. a machine that can perform menial tasks and won’t talk back? absolutely. the perfect slave. and now everyone can get involved. people of all races can own them. it will unite everyone. “are you pro slavery?” “of course. i’m not a monster” but what happens when the robots start to think for themselves, and we’re already to accustomed to their services? “they ain’t got no hearts or brains!” and the robots marching in perfect unison, “i think therefore i am” “descartes was an idiot!” then pitchforks and torches, whips will be useless, and after many messy years and countless speeches and appeals by passionate robot lawyers, will we have learned our lesson? i hope not.
